Time distortion, depersonalization and unitive experience:

Once Albert Einstein said:

“Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.”

This relativity – which we all have experienced – is more tangible in hypnosis because the trance state is like a magnifier.

Time is the first perception which is distorted in hypnosis. The 2nd perception which is altered, is the sense 0f location. The subject can not recognize where he or she is. The same sequence is applicable in conditions which disorientation happens like patients experience delirium in a hospital setting.

The last perception which becomes impaired is the sense of personality. The subject can not remember his or her identity. In some cases, the subject can feel the identity of another person. The next level of this phenomenon is unitive experience. Unitive experience is the feeling of being anybody or anything.
